What can you do to be a more literate media consumer?

Why do you think the media represents such a narrow understanding of who we are and how we relate to one another?

1: Recognize how consumers respond to information presentation and adjust content accordingly. Strive for transparency and accountability always. Engage media consumers in reflective dialogue.

2: the media represents a narrow understanding of who we are and how we relate to each other because you can say and do anything on social media and you most likely won’t get caught or will be believed

Answer:

1. Recognize how consumers respond to information presentation and adjust content accordingly. Strive for transparency and accountability always. Engage media consumers in reflective dialogue that improves the product. Acknowledge their own personal biases as they affect media creation.

2. Simply put, it is socially significant to systematically document racial/ethnic representations in the media as these portrayals contribute meaningfully to both real‐world intergroup dynamics as well as beliefs about oneself and one's own group in society.
