Answer:

Vertex means the highest or lowest coordinate in a parabola (and also absolute value)

Here we see the lowest point is (-2,0), so the vertex is (-2,0)

A standard quadratic equation is written as a(x-h)^2+k

h and k are the vertex coordinate h is x and k is y

so by finding the vertex we found that h = -2 and k = 0

so you plug it in

a(x-(-2))^2+0=y

a(x+2)^2=y

when finding a, you take a random point in the graph and plug it in and solve it

lets take (-1,1)

so its a(-1+2)^2 = 1

a(1)^2 = 1

a=1

so the equation will be 1(x+2)^2 = y or (x+2)^2=y (don't need to write the 1)
