The most challenging conflict in my life was accepting that I was never cut out to be a boy/man and that in my heart of hearts since as young as I can remember I was supposed to be a girl/woman. I was always strange for a boy. I was too emotional and never very interested in macho guy things. When I was a child like most children I just naturally gravitated to my own peer groups where I fit in and where I was with like minded persons. The unusual thing was that these groups were almost always girls or mostly girls. It is not that I did not try to play with boys or that I did not have opportunity to play with them because I did, I just did not enjoy their company at all. Things got further confusing for me because although I liked playing the games the girls played like house and barbie rather then guy things even then I was often forced into certain gender roles. I would ask "why can't I be the mommy and you be the daddy today", even amongst the closest thing I had to peers at age 6-10 there was conflict. I always had to be daddy.
