We can see that we need to plug in 2 for x in the first equation

We can also see that when x=2 we need to use the second part of the piecewise (because this one works when x is greater than or equal to 2)

so we have

3*(4*2+1)= 27

for g(x) we need to plug in x=1

we use the first piecewise equation because it's valid when x is less than 3

4(1²+2)=12

take their sum 27+12= 39
