2. Medication B is available in a liquid capsule of 150 mg per capsule. 600 mg/kg per

day is ordered for a child weighing 44 lbs. How many mgs should be given to this child
per day? How many capsules will the nurse administer to the child per day?

Answer:

12000 mg/day or 80 capsules

Explanation:

First let's convert 44 lbs to kg. You could divide by 2.205 to get more precise answer but since 44 divides perfectly by 2.2 I don't think it's a coincidence it's meant to be rounded.

44/2.2=20 kg

600*20=12000 mg per day

12000/150=80 capsules

Seems a bit excessive but looking over my process I don't see any mistakes.
