Substitute for x+2y=12 and x=y-12

Answer:

x = -4

y = 8

Explanation:

We can substitute:

=> (y - 12) + 2y = 12

=> 3y - 12 = 12

=> 3y = 12 + 12

=> 3y = 24

=> y = 24/3

=> y = 8

Now we can substitute 8 in for y, in any of the equation given to find x:

=> x = (8) - 12

=> x = -4
