First in order to subtract you have to find the LCM/ least common multiple which is 15 as 5x3 = 15 and 3×5= 15, and so then with the new denominator being 15 you have to solve for the numerator, and so 3 goes into 15 5 times and 2x5= 10 and 5 goes into 15 3 times, so 4x3 = 12. So then you are left with 16 12/15 - 9 10/15 which will then be 7 2/15.
