A spinner has six sections of equal shape and size. Each section is either black or white. The table shows the result of an experiment when the spinner was spun 90 times:

Result of Spin Black White
Number of Spins 18 72

Based on the data, which of the following best describes the experimental probability of the arrow landing on a black or white section of the spinner?
The spinner is equally likely to land on black or white.
The spinner is 4 times more likely to land on white.
The spinner is 4 times more likely to land on black.
The information cannot be concluded from the data table.

Answer:

The spinner is 4 times more likely to land on white

Explanation:

The first thing that you need to know is that this is an INDEPENDENT EVENT witch means that EVENTS THAT ARE NOT AFFECTED BY A PREVIOUS OUTCOME and another way to say it is just because the spinner landed on white 72 times and landed on black 18 times does not mean it is always going to land on white. Sec you need to know what probability is?

number of favorable outcomes

-----------------------------------------------

The number of total possible outcomes

So for this problem it would be

18 72

---- -----

90 90

And how I got 90 that is how many times the spinner was spun and can also be a probability of white or black so 18 divided by 90 is 0.2 turn into a percent 20% and 72 divided by 90 is 0.8 turn into a percent is 80%

I think i'm right but so sorry if i'm wrong

Answer:

The spinner is 4 times more likely to land on white.

Explanation:

Experimental probability relies on the data from the experiment only.

Since there were 18 spins of black and 72 spins of white, it is clear that you are 4x more likely to get white since
18*4=72.
