A tank is 20% full contains 500 gallons of water. Find the maximum capacity of the water tank?PLease HELP ASAP

We can solve this easily with proportions. If the tank is 20% full and has 500 gallons in it, when it is 100% full, it will have a proportional amount of water in it:


(20)/(500)=(100)/(x) where the percentages are on the top and the number of gallons is on the bottom of those ratios.

Cross multiply to solve for x:

20x = 50000 so

x = 2500 gallons, max capacity
