Draw a right triangle.

The vertical length = 50 feet

The horizontal length = 87 feet.

The angle of elevation is at the end of the 87 foot length to the top of the vertical length.

Tan(angle of elevation)= 50 / 87 Take the inverse tan of both sides

angle of elevation = tan-1 (50 / 87)

angle of elevation = 29.89 degrees
