simple, since all sides of a square are equal, we have that;

6x - 2= 4x + 5

collect like terms

6x - 4x = 5 + 2

2x = 7

dividing throughout by 2

x = 7/2

x = 3.5

since x= 3.5 or 7/2, we can now find the length of one side of the square by simply substituting value of x for x.

6x - 2

6(7/2) - 2

21 - 2

length of a side of the square= 19

OR

4x + 5

4(7/2) + 5

14 + 5

length of a side of the square= 19
