We need to tell the roots of the equation of graph plotted above . The condition of roots for a quadratic equation is ,

  • On real root if the graph touches the X axis at one point .
  • Two real distinct roots , if the graph cuts x axis at two points.
  • Complex roots / Imaginary roots if it don't intersect X axis.

Here we can see that the graph doesn't cuts x axis. So , the equation don't have any roots.

Hi there! In the quadratic function, there are three types of solutions.

  • two real roots
  • one real root
  • no real roots (complex roots)

To find the solution by graph, what we have to do is to see if a graph intersects a x-axis plane or not. If it doesn't, that means a graph clearly doesn't have solutions.

As we see in the picture, the graph of function doesn't intersect x-axis and thus there are no real roots.

Answer

  • No roots
