How do you multiply a fraction by a whole number?

Example:
(2)/(5)*10=(2)/(5)*(10)/(1)=(20)/(5)=4

Multiply the top number of the fraction by the whole number and then place that over the lower number of the fraction. Then you can see if the new fraction can be reduced or rewritten as a proper fraction.

Example:

1/2 x 3 would be (1 x3) / 2 = 3/2 which can be rewritten as 1 1/2
