Solution:

It should be noted:

  • The hypotenuse is usually the slanted line in a triangle.
  • Area of a kite = pq/2 (p and q = diagonal)

Finding the missing side length of triangle₁

  • 51² = 24² + x² (x = unknown side length)
  • => 2601 = 576 + x² (x = unknown side length)
  • => 2601 - 576 = x² (x = unknown side length)
  • => 2025 = x² (x = unknown side length)
  • => x = 45 m

Finding the missing side length of triangle₂

  • 30² = 24² + x² (x = missing side length)
  • => 900 = 576 + x² (x = missing side length)
  • => 900 - 576 = x² (x = missing side length)
  • => 324 = x² (x = missing side length)
  • => 18 m = x

Finding the area:

  • Area of a kite = pq/2 (p and q = diagonal)
  • => Area of a kite = (45 + 18)(24 + 24)/2
  • => Area of a kite = (63)(48)/2
  • => Area of a kite = 63 x 24 = 1512 m²
