Answer:

20 tigers

Explanation:

Method I

x/12 = 5/3

Multiply both sides by 12

x = 5/3 * 12

x = 20

Method II

12 / 3 = 4

So there 4 times as many as the base ratio

multiply the ratio by 4

20 : 12

20 tigers : 12 lions

Answer:

12 divided by 3 = 4 is our rate

So now that we've found our rate we multiply it to the tigers which is 5,

5 x 4 = 20 tigers

You see,

In order to find the other proportion of the ratio we need to first figure out the rate between the two given numbers. Once we do find the rate, we multiply it to the animal/thing that we are solving for and that will be your new number.
