We know that the slope of a line passing through the points ( x ₁ , y₁) and ( x₂ , y₂ ) is ,

→ Slope ( m ) = ( y₂ - y₁) / ( x₂ - x ₁ )

  • The points here are (12,-12) and (7,y) . Using formula of the slope , we have ,

→ m = -12 - y / 12 - 7

→ 1 = -(12+y)/ 5

→ 5 = -12 - y

→ y = -12-5

y = -17

Hence the value of y is -17 .
