Solution:

Adjacent angle: If two angles are adjacent to each other, it means they have a common vertex, one common side and they are not overlapping each other, then they are called adjacent angles.

Vertical angles: If two lines intersect each other then the opposite angles are known an vertical angles.

From the given figure it is clear that the angle 1 and angle 2 have a common vertex, one common side and they are not overlapping each other. So, the angle 1 and angle 2 are adjacent angles.
