Divide the 8/9 liter of paint by the quantity of paint needed per statue, to obtain the number of statues Erin can paint:

------------------------- = ----- * ----- statues = 80/9 statues.

1/10 liter / statue 9 1

80/9 statues comes out to 8 8/9 statues. 8 statues can be painted, but Erin will either have to settle for partially painting one more statue or not using up the last remaining bit of paint.
