A block of cheese measures 8cm by 6cm by 4cm. A cubical piece of side 2cm is cut off from it.

(a) What volume of the cheese is left?

(b) The piece left is cut into 12 equal pieces. What is the volume of each of these 12 pieces?​

Explanation:

A) Vol. of block of cheese= L×B×H= 8cm×4cm×6cm= 192cm³

Piece of cheese cut out= S×S×S= 2cm×2cm×2cm= 8cm³

Remainder= 192cm³ - 8cm³ = 184cm³

B) Remainder = 184cm³ is cut into 12 equal pieces

Each pieces = 184cm³ ÷ 12 = 15.3cm³
