The Cayuse (Liksiyu) tribe suspected that Marcus Whitman was responsible for the measles epidemic.

A small group of the Cayuse took medicine from Whitman and they unfortunately died not long after.

The indigenous people were not immune to the Eurasian diseases, so, they were (inevitably) more susceptible to measles.
