1/4x=6-12

1/4x=-6

0.25x=-6

x=-6÷0.25

x=-24

÷changes to ÷(vice versa)

x = -24

Explanation:

y = 1/4x+12 (Substitute 6 for y)

6 = 1/4x+12 (Subtract 12 from both sides)

6-12= -6 so its now -6 = 1/4x and since its a fraction you want to multiply both sides by the reciprocal

4*-6 = 1/4x*4 (1/4*4=1 which is 1x or x)

-24 = x
