just because you should multiply by 2 40*2=80 cm^2

Since, The line of symmetry is drawn between them. That line makes both sides equal. So if area of one half is 40cm² the area of other half will be also 40cm²..

Now, their sum is:


40 + 40 = 80

Thus, The total area of the rhombus is 80cm²...~
