The difference is that (-3)^4 has a negative 3 with parenthesis around it, which means that if it was in PEMDAS, you would work that out first.

Answer:

{ - 3}^(4) = - (3 * 3 * 3 * 3) \\ {( - 3)}^(4) = ( - 3 * - 3 * - 3 * - 3)
