If you split up the figure into two parts then you will get 2 triangles and a rectangle. The area of 1 triangle is

A=1/2xbh

but there are two triangles so it would be 2(1/2x bh).

you can then multiply tht by the areaof the rectangle and get

2(1/2x12*5)+(16*12)
