Given:

Number of red marbles = 8

Number of blue marbles = 5

Number of green marbles = 11

Number of yellow marbles = 1

One marble is selected at random.

To find:

The P(red, green or yellow).

Solution:

Number of red, green or yellow marbles = 8 + 11 + 1

= 20

Total number of marbles = 8 + 5 + 11 + 1

= 25

The probability of getting a red, green or yellow marble is:

P(\text{red, green or yellow})=\frac{\text{number of red, green or yellow marbles}}{\text{Total number of marbles}}

P(\text{red, green or yellow})=(20)/(25)

P(\text{red, green or yellow})=(4)/(5)

P(\text{red, green or yellow})=0.8

Therefore, the value of P(red, green or yellow) is 0.8.
