A contruction company is working on a road which is 1/4 mile long. The workers divide the road into 3 equal sections. Brent claims that each section of road is 3/4 mile long.

Answer: Brent would be wrong because each section of the road is 1/12 mile long

Explanation:

The road is 1/4 mile long. When divided into 3 equal parts, it is done in the following manner:

= 1/4 ÷ 3

= 1/4 * 1/3

= 1/12

Each section of the road is 1/12 of a mile long.

3/4 is actually a larger quantity than 1/4 so saying that each section was 3/4 of a mile would mean it was longer than the road itself which is not logical.
