Convert to vertex form:

y = (x - 1)^2 - 1 - 4

y = (x - 1)^2 - 5

From this we conclude that there is a minimum vertex at (1, -5). It is a minimum because the coefficient of x^2 is positive.

It looks like a letter U and its symmetrical about the line x = 1.

You can plot 3 more points at say, where x = -2 ( and y = (-2)^2 - 2(-2) - 4)

and x = 4 ( y = 4^2 - 2(4) - 4 ) . Also where x = 0 and y = -4.

then draw the graph through these 3 points and the vertex.
