Joseph Stalin abused his position to slowly gain control over the Soviet Communist Party. This kept going until Lenin died and Stalin gained control. Benito Mussolini gained control when Italy was in a time of crisis and financial debt. The central government was weak and it all came to a head when Mussolini and his black shirts did the march on Rome, the after math was Mussolini as prime minister. Mussolini later then asserted himself as an absolute dictator and IL DUCE. Hitler also gained control in a time of crisis as Germany was in severe debt and the political parties started to get more and more control. Hitler have the German people a scape goat, his party rose in popularity until he became Chancellor. The president then died giving Hitler the chance to gain control. I wanted to point out that this was all possible because of WW1 and the problems it left in its wake.
