Often constitutions have been destroyed because an individual or small group of people has taken over the government. This cannot happen in the United States because of the principle of Separation of Powers. This divided our government into three branches with equal power. This is the reason we can not really over throw the goverment, we also have a very large area of people who like the way the country is ruled and followed. This being said the constitution is in affect becuse the goverment has lines they have to follow to keep that large group of people to follow (the lines being the constitution).
