You multiply the area of the square first and add that to the area of the two right triangles.

Area of the square - Bh = 22(18) = 396

Area of ONE right triangle - 1/2bh h = 7 b = the base of the triangle

Look at the bottom of the square (18 cm) and divide that by two to get the base of the triangle

1/2(9)(7) = 31.5

Area of BOTH right triangles - 31.5(2) = 63

Total Area - Then you add 396 to 63 and you get 459 cm2, or C, which is the answer
