Explanation:

The function shown in the table is linear. Both the x- and y-values have a common difference. The x-values increase by 1, while the y-values decrease by 2. The slope of the linear function is the ratio of these differences:

m = ∆y/∆x = -2/1 = -2.

Neither Landon nor Evelyn is correct.

Additional comment

An absolute value function is linear on either side of its turning point. Ordinarily, we'd have to see an indication in the table that the function has a turning point before we'd commit to saying it was an absolute value function. Evelyn might be right, but there is not enough data in the table to support her conclusion. (The second attachment shows one of an infinite number of absolute value functions that would have the values shown in the table.)
