A cone has a base radius of 3 cm and a slant height of 5 cm.

Find h, the perpendicular height of the cone.

I=4 (Slant height)

R=3 (Radius)

H=5 (slant height)

Explanation:

Imagine inclination, peprendicular height and radius as a triangle, so this will have a 90 degrees angle and Pythagor theorem will imply to the calculations, as :


a^(2)+b^(2)= c^(2)\\

where Height is A , Radius is B, and Inclination is C we have:


3^(2) +I^(2) = 5^(2)

from above we have:


I^(2) =25-9

and


√(I)=√(16) =4
