During this time black people were fighting for the right to be equal amongst white people and when they got that right they were technically equal. However women at the time were treated less than men, meaning only certain things were excepted amongst man and other women.
For instance a woman could never take out a loan unless her husband agreed to the loan. If the wife and husband divorced due to lets say the husband abusing her and the children, the husband would get the children.
It was a very hard time to be a woman because you could never be independent or do anything except be a wife and child bearer.
I am not saying being a wife and mother is a bad thing, it was just a lot harder being a single woman than to be married.
Women's rights was very helpful in giving a woman with children or a single woman a chance to live a life they chose. But they have gone too far in trying to be a man than to be what they truly are; a companion of another human being whether they be female or male.
