Answer:

If you look at a graph, you see 2 lines forming a "plus" shape. The horizontal line is called the x-axis, and the verticle line is called the y-axis. Rise over run is how much the y changes when the x changes. So if the graph increases its y value by 2 each time the x increases by 1, then rise over run is 2.
