Given:

The polynomial is:

P(x)=ax+b

To find:

Whether
x=-(b)/(a) is a zero of the given polynomial or not.

Solution:

We have,

P(x)=ax+b

Putting
x=-(b)/(a), we get

P(-(b)/(a))=a(-(b)/(a))+b

P(-(b)/(a))=-b+b

P(-(b)/(a))=0

Since the value of the given polynomial is 0 at
x=-(b)/(a), therefore
x=-(b)/(a) is a zero of the given polynomial.
