The surface area of a sphere with radius R can be calculated using the formula S=4pi*r^2. Write a formula showing r's dependence on S. (Write r in terms of S.)

I tried r=sqrt(S/4pi) and the absolute value of that, but both didn't work.

Answer:

r=1/2*sqrt(S/pi)

Explanation:

r=sqrt(S/4pi) technically is correct, but you need to simplify that in the answer shown above. Take the 4 out of the denominator, flip it to 1/4 (since the 4 is in the denominator), and calculate the sqrt of 1/4 to add it to the left side.
