How to get the Y-intercept of an system of equation with equation 5x-y=9 which original form is ax+by=c i know that the slope is -a/b but what is the Y-intercept WITHOUT changing anything in the equation like making it in the form y=mx+b or anything.

You are trying to get y by itself on one side, so you subtract 5x to both sides and you are left with -y=-5x+9

Step 2

You don't want your y to be negative (-y) and there's an imaginary -1 there so in order to make that positive you have to multiply by another -1 to both sides because a negative multiplied by a negative is a positive. Then you are left with y=5x-9 because each of those numbers were also multiplied by -1. And that's your answer!
