Two students are comparing scientific experiments to investigations. They came up with the following ideas.

Student A: Testing plant growth in different types of soils

Student B: Comparing the water level in a lake during different times of the year Which student gave an example of a scientific experiment? (5 points)

A: Student A because it requires experimental and control groups
B; Student B because it requires a hypothesis
C: Student A because it is preferably done in natural settings

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Scientific experiments need to have an independent and a dependent variable. Scientists can manipulate the independent variable. A should be the correct answer because it mentions what I just said. All scientific experiments need to have a control and experimental group. Therefore, student A and the answer A are correct.

I wish you the best of luck :D

Answer:

A is the correct answer.

Explanation:

In experiment we require a controlled variable which is the constant in example A that is the plant we intend to put into the soil. In example B there's no such thing as controlled variable, so we can't expect the position of the water level. the water level is so unpredictable since tides or tsunami might change the result.
