Claim- Drivers who text while operating their vehicle should be punished accordingly, as they have openly risked their own life and the lives of others on the road by driving while distracted.
Reason- texting while driving is one of the leading causes of teenage fatalities in the U.S.
Evidence- While texting, one is averting their eyes from the road and directing partial/full attention towards ones phone. This causes one to miss signs of danger: potholes, other vehicles, pedestrians. Peripheral vision is rarely enough to compensate for the loss of sight caused by the distraction.
