What happens when the moon comes between the sun and the earth?​

So anyway, when the moon gets right in between the sun and the Earth, it casts a dark shadow on a tiny portion of the planet. This shadow is called the moon's umbra. Around the umbra is the penumbra, which correspond to areas that see a partial eclipse. Enid falls in this category. Hope this helped!
