3(x+1) + 4(x) = 2x(x+1)
3x + 3 + 4x = 2x^2 + 2x
2x^2 - 5x - 3 = 0
if we factorise the quadratic equation
(2x + 1)(x - 3)=0
2x + 1 = 0 or x - 3 = 0
so x = -1/2 or x = 3
