Please help! I have a barrel of apples. 70% are red and 30% is green but 24% of all green apples are damaged. What is the remaining percentage of green apples?

Answer:

22.8% ≈ 23%

Explanation:

Since we don't know the number apples, I just turned the percentages into decimals

30% = 0.3

24% = 0.24

1.00 - 0.24 = 0.76 *Since 24% of green apples are damaged, then 76% are not damaged*

0.3 x 0.76 = 0.228 = 22.8% ≈ 23%
