The other number is 4/5

Explanation:

let the number be x

if one of the numbers is -14/5

The sum of two rational numbers is -2.

Here, we get the equation

x + (-14/5) = -2

x - 14/5 = -2

x = 14/5 - 2

x = 14 - 2 × 5 ÷ 5

x = 14 - 10 ÷ 5

x = 4/5

Thus, The other number is 4/5

FOR VERIFICATION ONLY:

x + (-14/5) = -2

4/5 + (-14/5) = -2

4/5 - 14/5 = -2

4 - 14/5 = -2

-10/5 = -2

-2 = -2

Hence, L.H.S = R.H.S
