Answer:

Explanation:

Complete the square

x^(2) + 2x - 13 = 0

x^(2) + 2x = 13

x^(2) + 2x +
1^(2) = 13 +1 (take 1/2 of the b term , the 2 )

x^(2) + 2x + 1 = 14

Answer:

Complete the square:

  • x² + 2x - 13 = 0
  • x² + 2x + 1 - 14 = 0
  • (x + 1)² - 14 = 0
  • (x + 1)² = 14
  • x + 1 = ± √14
  • x = -1 ± 3.74
  • x = 2.74, x = -4.74
