because we know the lines intersect we also know the 2 angles are vertical meaning they are equal to each other

Knowing the angles are equal to each other you can make the equation

2x + 29 = 9x - 13

then you solve for x in this equation

2x + 29 = 9x - 13

(subtract 2x from both sides)

29 = 7x - 13

(add 13 to both sides)

42 = 7x

(divide by 7 on both sides)

6 = x

x = 6
