How does eating contribute to the flow of energy in an ecosystem?

Carbon bonds in food are broken, which releases energy.
Weathering breaks down rocks into chemicals like sulfur and nitrogen.
Consumers make food using light energy from the sun.
Energy is absorbed as heat when plants make food.

Carbon bonds are broken down. I determined this through process of elimination because weathering deals with erosion which is not important to biology, consumers consume a producer which makes light from energy from the sun consumers don’t produce energy and energy is not absorbed as heat when plants make food or there would be heat coming off of plants when there is no sun.
