Answer:

D = 48kg

Explanation:

The ratio of the weights of A and B is equal to the ratio of the weights

of C and D.

From the above question

A : B = C : D

This can also be interpreted as

A/B = C/D

A is 20 kg

B is 24kg

C is 40kg

D is ?

Therefore:

20/24 = 40/D

Cross Multiply

20D = 24 × 40

D = 24 × 40/20

D = 48

Therefore, D = 48kg
