Say that Jaxon has to transport his food 9 miles. Paul’s Pick-Up $3.60 for the 9 miles + the $68.00 flat fee which would add up to $71.60. Whereas Harper’s Haulers would charge $5.85 for a 9 mile transport + the $23.00 flat fee which would add up to $28.85. Overall, Harper’s Haulers would be the cheaper decision.

Answer:

Paul: 0.40m + 68.00

Harper: 0.65m + 23.00

Explanation:

M here represents the amount of miles. So, if you add it to the equation, you get the total cost. For example if I wanted to hire Paul for 2 miles, it would be 0.40(2) + 68.00

0.40(2) = 0.80

0.80 + 68 = 68.80

It would be $68.80 for 2 miles.
