Solution:

It should be noted that:

  • If the x-coordinate is 0, then the y-coordinate is the y-intercept.
  • Slope = Rise/Run = y₂ - y₁/x₂ - x₁
  • Slope intercept form formula: y = mx + b

To find the equation that represents by the table:

1. Find the slope.

2. Find the y-intercept

3. Put the equation in y = mx + b form.

Step 1. Finding the slope.

  • Slope = Rise/Run = y₂ - y₁/x₂ - x₁
  • => Slope = -2 - (-6)/1 - 0
  • => Slope = -2 + 6/1
  • => Slope = 4/1 = 4

Step 2. Finding the y-intercept.

If the x-coordinate is 0, then the y-coordinate is the y-intercept.

  • => y-intercept = -6

Step 3. Putting the equation in y = mx + b form.

  • y = mx + b = y = (4)x - 6
  • => y = 4x - 6

The equation that is represented by the table is y = 4x - 6.
