We already have the width and the height of our rectangle, so we just have to plug into our formula (height x length):

8 x 4 = 32

Now we have to do the half-circle (the formula for the area of a circle is pi x radius²) so we have to find the radius (half the diameter):

8 ÷ 2 = 4

Now we can plug:

4² = 16

We're using 3.14 for pi so:

3.14 x 16 = 50.24

Now we divide this because we only have a half-circle:

50.24 ÷ 2 = 25.12

Now we add our rectangle and our semicircle together:

32 + 25.12 = 57.12

And that's actually an option, so the area of the figure is A.) 57.12 in²
